Nokia Maps Navigation available over the counter at Phones 4u

If you’ve got a GPS-equipped Nokia phone and are thinking about getting Nokia Maps Navigation, you can now stroll down to your local Phones 4u emporium and grab it over the counter.

The high street mobile shop is the first retailer to offer the Maps upgrade in this way (it was previously only available to buy through your Nokia phone itself), and we guess it’ll appeal to Nok-users who have an aversion to using their credit card online – or possibly don’t have a credit card at all.

Nokia extends Sports Tracker with LifeviNe

It’s not just about swanky new handsets this week – in addition to two new Nseries offspring Nokia also taken the wraps off its latest LifeviNe service. The idea is based on Sports Tracker, but is less about running around and getting sweaty and more about linking what you do with where you are.

Nokia quietly upgrades Maps 2.0

Nokia has snuck out an upgraded version of its route finding and GPS app, without so much as lone party popper, let alone a big fanfare. There’s no official word on what you can expect to find in the new version, although it looks to be faster at working out which way to go so you’re not halfway there by the time it’s made its mind up.

Nokia Chats to more S60 handsets

Nokia has added S60 3rd Edition devices to the list of handsets supported by its location based instant messaging app so you can now talk to your buddies even if they’re running older phones. Not all the location features work at present, but if you just want to have a quick chinwag you’re in luck.

Nokia Chat updated – now less of a power drain

Nokia has updated its location sensing text talker app, fixing a few bugs here and there and reducing its appetite for battery power in the process. Now you can keep up with your nearby mates without having to constantly keep one eye on the power meter and it should be much more stable too.
