Firefox Mobile hits the Nokia N810

Firefox Mobile, also known as Fennec, hence the rather good looking logo, has been seen out and about in its first beta stage. To top it all off, it’s been shown-off running on a Nokia N810 tablet.

Beta 1 of Fennec is intended for testing purposes only and to allow users to give feedback to Mozilla so they can develop the browser for a wider range of devices.

Amazon Kindle 2 versus Nokia N810 – stat clash!

Amazon has tried to rekindle interest in its Kindle reader by giving it a make over and adding a host of apps and features, the biggest of which is 3G connectivity to download content. Wait a minute, doesn’t that make it an internet tablet?

Is Amazon making a bid for the market that Nokia dominates with a number of its own internet devices? We feel a bit of a battle royale coming on, as the Kindle 2 versus Nokia N810 square up for a stat clash!

Firefox Mobile coming to the N810 tablet first

Remember that sneaky peak of Firefox Mobile we brought you back in June. Well, the good news – if you’re the lucky owner of an N810 – is that you could be playing with it as soon as next week.

An early alpha version, just for the N810, is expected to be released in the next seven days. Of course, other handset owners will get to play too, but they may have to wait until the new year. Feeling smug, much?

Now, there’s clearly some logic in trying out Google’s shiny new open source Android OS on your N810 so you can get an idea of what it’ll be like. It’s also easy to understand why you might want to coax one into running Debian for a bit of OpenOffice and Firefox 3 action. But Windows 3.1? Really?

Hot on the heals of a hassle free way to get Google Android up and running on your n810, you can now let Debian loose with just a click or two. It takes a bit of time, but once everything is in place you’ll get access to OpenOffice, Firefox 3, AbiWord and IceVM among others.
