26 reasons your Nokia will survive a beating
Yesterday we met a bunch of guys who’s job it is to break phones. Kevin Smith and Robert Johnson, who work at Nokia’s relability labs in Nokia’s UK HQ reckon if they don’t break phones, they’re not doing their job properly. Sounds easy doesn’t it. After all, I don’t seem to have much trouble killing mine (though I have to admit, it’s been a while since I’ve had one collapse completely). But no, these guys do it the sophisticated way. They have machines that can press a keypad 1 million times, a device made of denim that spins around to simulate the way we (or at least I) rub my phone’s screen on my jeans to clean it. They have even cracked the hardest one of all – an abrasion test to simulate the inside of a woman’s handbag. And no, I didn’t put my hand inside.
Nokia Map Loader for Mac review
It took me about 20 minutes to download Nokia Map Loader for Mac, grab the latest copy of Nokia Multimedia transfer, set it all up, plug in my E71, select UK, Finland and Republic of Ireland maps, and dump them onto my E71. Not bad, considering I’d improved my lot quite considerably with the addition of over 200MB worth of lush mappery.
I was as surprised as the rest of them to see Nokia Map Loader appearing for Mac (albeit in Beta). There isn’t really a whole lot to it, to be honest. Open it up, select which countries you’d like, drag them to the big pane on the right hit the “start download” button and away you go.
Tesco launches Nokia Voip Wi-Fi service
Tesco is branching out from beetroot and bananas with its latest TalkWi-Fi service that promises free Voip calls from your Nok. When you’re in range of wireless hotspot, you can route your calls over Tesco’s service, saving yourself a pretty penny in the process.
Game: K-Rally
Top-down 3D racing with an arcade action flavour.
What’s it good for?
Demonstrating that not only N-Gage games have great production values.
