Nokia C6 Review: First Impressions
Rating: 4

Nokia-c6-unboxing-8We’ve had Nokia’s mid-range smartphone for a day now, and although we’ll be bringing you a full review tomorrow, we thought you’d like to find out our initial impressions of the handset. Read on after the break to find out what we think of the Nokia C6…

The Nokia C6 currently sits at the top of the C-series range, and offers a similar package to the Nokia N97 Mini, but at a cheaper price point. Although it looks a little bit more like the larger Nokia N97, the C6 is actually deceptively small, proving little larger than the Mini – and indeed smaller in some dimensions – than its sibling.

It’s still quite a bulky handset, but it’s worth it for a couple of reasons. The 3.2-inch screen is bright and vivid panel, and we found it responsive and easy to use when navigating the operating system or using the onscreen keypad.

Slide down the QWERTY keypad, and the Nokia C6 becomes the ideal tool for email and texting, and it actually offers a keypad that’s easier to type on at speed than the Nokia N97 Mini’s. All of the keys are big, sensibly laid out and responsive.

Build quality is good, if lacking the high-end feel of the Nokia N97 Mini. That said, features like the soft-touch back are still a nice touch, and also make it easier to grip the handset when you’re making phone calls.

On first impressions then, the Nokia C6 looks like a bit of a bargain – it’s comfortable, has a good screen, and is exception when it comes to email use. Check back tomorrow to find out if the Nokia C6 can compete in other areas – such as the spec and performance.
