Nokia N8 Gets Crafty Pre-Order, Price Revealed
The Nokia N8 seems to have gotten itself a crafty pre-order on at least one retail site. What’s more, the Nokia N8 is also being cited as being available on the 31st August. Join us after the jump to find out how much the Nokia N8 is going to cost you with the crafty pre-order…
The Nokia N8 is the most eagerly anticipated launch from Nokia this year. Not only will it be the first Symbian^3 device, it’ll also be the first 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, as well as pack in a whopping 12-Megapixel camera.
The Nokia N8 has appeared on online retail site Play.com with a pre-order price of £449.99 (inc. VAT) and delivered. They are also quoting the 31st August as launch date. There has been no official word from Nokia on pricing or launch date but the 24th August is thought to be the most likely date. So, Play shipping them a mere week later sounds like a plausible date.
Less likely is the full list price of £479.99 (inc. VAT), as the Nokia N8 is expected to be around 370 Euros when it ships. However, until we get official confirmation that is very much open to debate. A quick visit to Nokia Online revealed the site is still set to announce the Nokia N8 Pre-order.
Now, as we know, dates posted on sites often have a tendency to change at the last moment but Play.com is known for getting the jump on other online retail sites, recently posting the Nokia C6 for an end of July launch, which seems to be backed up by a recent Nokia Online posting.
So, have you placed your Nokia N8 pre-order yet or are you waiting for official confirmation on pricing from Nokia before slapping down your money with Play? Let us know your plans in the Comments below.
We’d like to thank eagle-eyed NokNok reader Temi_D for spotting the Nokia N8 pre-order on Play.com and tipping us off, good work there fella!

I wouldn\\\’t read too much into the Play.com price or the release date, they are usually fairly arbritary. I remember the N900 on play.com where I placed a pre-order and it was held back and held back, until I gave up a few months later and just cancelled my order as it was getting silly and bought it from elsewhere. I think the N8 wll probably drop in August, but at that kind of price it just doesn\\\’t sound right, at the moment the N8 doesn\\\’t feel like a flagship, more like a stop-gap until Nokia get Meego sorted and release the N9, the camera is going to sell that phone not Symbian 3, the widget system still looks so messy when compared to the elegance and simplicity of Maemo, I\\\’m sure it\\\’ll do the job for most people but I\\\’d rather stick with my \\"older\\" N900 with it\\\’s infinitely better OS.
