Nokia N900 spotted running Maemo 5 and Android

Nokia N900With its brand-new, user-friendly operating system, it’s inevitable that the Nokia N900 will be compared to rivals running Android. Unlike its rivals, however, the Nokia N900 continues to surprise fans and critics alike, and there’s little that this handset can’t achieve. Following on from its gaming success, the Nokia N900 has now been spotted dual-booting Android alongside its Maemo 5 operating system. To find out more, read on after the jump…

The Nokia N900 has proved a staggeringly capable handset over the past couple of months, from the smooth-running and intuitive operating system, to the open-source aspect that makes it easy for coders to tailor their Nokia N900 to their exact requirements. It impressed us out of the box too, and since we’ve seen it running 3D games such as Duke Nukem, we genuinely think there are few phones capable of rivalling the Nokia N900.

However, one amateur coder has gone one step further than most users, and has actually managed to install Android on his Nokia N900 alongside the Maemo 5 OS, putting making the Nokia N900 more capable and adaptable than any of its rivals.

We’d much prefer to stick with the Maemo 5 operating system than swap to Android, as it’s proving incredibly capable. There’s no doubt that it’s an impressive feat, however, booting without any issues, and highlighting how few limits there are to what your Nokia N900 can achieve if you know what you’re doing.
