Nokia C Series a Serious Contender for Launch?
At the end of last week a rumour started to circulate that Nokia would be launching a new handset on 26th January. The gossip mill has gone in to overdrive, with even our own speculations getting a little carried away. Could the launch of the Nokia C Series also be hot air or are we looking at the launch of a new device class? Join us after the jump to find out if the Nokia C Series is a serious contender….
Are the Nokia C3 and Nokia C5 about to be launched? This rumour has suddenly caught the imagination of a lot of pundits – the same people who said that Nokia Ovi Store 2.0 was a definite shoe-in last week maybe?
The Nokia C Series first came to light last year at the same time as the Nokia X Series. Now, we know the Nokia X6 has already been launched, and the Nokia X3 has popped up for Pre-order at Nokia Online but nothing has ever been heard of the Nokia C Series, which is why it has been jumped on as the new device.
The only evidence seems to be a document that has reportedly come from the Indonesian Govt. Agency, which one no one is certain. However, it goes on to suggest there will be two models:
Nokia C3 (Model: C3-00; Type: RM-614)
- RF specs: Quadband GSM, WLAN, Bluetooth
Nokia C5 (Model: C5-00; Type: RM-645)
- RF specs: Quadband GSM, UMTS + HSDPA/HSUPA, Bluetooth
Now, a great deal of this seems to be rumours being put together to form a whole picture. After all, Nokia UK Boss, Mark Loughran suggested there would be ‘one‘ device not two. Now, we’ve a little over 24 hours to wait and see what emerges and while we’re dying to see a top-secret handset roll out of Nokia-central, we have to think that our original ideas of the 12-Megapixel smartphone or even the Consumer Maemo are still the strongest.
