Stat Clash: Nokia N900 Vs HTC Touch Pro 2

Stat Clash: Nokia N900 Vs HTC Touch Pro 2At a glance, the Maemo 5 powered Nokia N900 and the HTC Touch Pro 2 might seem like quite similar devices – they’re both good looking, stylish, and have enough in built features to make even the most hard-to-please tech geeks lust after them. However, there is certainly differences, and not surprisingly, the N900 comes out on top. Read on after the jump to find out more…

In terms of software, and by software we mean OS, there is really no competition, as the HTC uses an antiquated, and if we’re honest, awful, Windows based OS. Compare this to the powerful, open-source Linux based Maemo 5 OS and you’d be hard pressed not to agree that the Nokia N900 is a superior device.

Again, in terms of build, there is very little that the HTC can teach the N900. While the Nokia N900 is robust, solid in the hand, and generally a very accommodating fit in your pocket, the HTC Touch Pro 2 is awkward, has a generally flimsy in-hand feel and, overall, just doesn’t have the design aesthetics of the Nokia N900 – sorry, but in this sense, it’s a no brainer.

On high-end devices like the N900 and the HTC Touch Pro 2 everything is at stake, and in this sense, you’d think HTC would be a little more liberal with its storage capabilities. Granted, 16GB is a decent amount of storage, easily enough to keep and extensive bank of media with you at all times. However, compare this to the potential 48GB of the N900 and the HTC looks practically dated – 16 to 48, that’s not even fair!

…We could go on, but it probably wouldn’t be fair. In short, the N900 is the superior device, both in terms of its functionality, features, storage, and design. Therefore, you’d be quite silly to go for the HTC Touch Pro 2 over the N900, when the N900 beats it in nearly every category you can name!
