Nokia Booklet 3G: First Impressions
The Nokia Booklet 3G has landed on our desk and while we’re a little biased about such things, this is one pretty impressive mini-laptop. The first thing that strikes you about the Nokia Booklet 3G is the design – this is one serious piece of kit. The compact design, aluminium casing and solid feel makes this one of the more stylish and tough devices out there. Find out how we got on with the Nokia Booklet 3G after the jump…
The Nokia Booklet 3G is a 10.1-inch mini-laptop that comes loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition, an Intel Atom Z530 processor that clocks in at 1.6GHz. It’s backed by 1GB of memory but due to the almost sealed design of the Nokia Booklet 3G, the average user won’t be able to upgrade this.
What we like most about the screen on the Nokia Booklet 3G is that it has a HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which quite frankly blows comparisons with cheap netbooks out of the water. This means you can watch HD video on the move, as well as get decent image sizes when looking at web pages, or even when loading up Ovi Suite.

The battery on the Nokia Booklet 3G is a 16-cell battery pack, a capacity you won’t find being used out there too often. Nokia claims we’ll get around 12 hours of battery life out of this device and we’re looking forward to check it out.
We like the fact that the power pack is nice and small and you can wrap the cable around the brick for a neater package. What’s more, you need to make sure the adapter is firmly plugged into the Nokia Booklet 3G as the adapter is quite small and there is extra rubber to the prevent it getting damaged.
The keyboard uses the popular chiclet approach, so the keys poke through the body of the Nokia Booklet 3G, giving them plenty of space around each key. This does mean the keys aren’t as large as we were expecting but they have proved comfortable to use so far.
Navigating around the screen has proved smooth, as the touchpad is a good size, as are the mouse buttons, and being widescreen in aspect ratio, it nicely mirrors the display.
We’ve only been using the Nokia Booklet 3G for the last 12 hours but we’re already falling for this device. It feels fantastic in the hand, has a great feel to it and everything so far has run smoothly. We’ll be giving the Nokia Booklet 3G a full review once we’ve spent a little more time with it, but for now this is definitely one device you want to add to your ‘wish list’.
