Nokia 5530: SIM Memory Full and what to do!

 Nokia 5530 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic received a firmware update to version 11.0.054 recently but a problem that may still persist with some new devices is a slight problem with the SIM card’s memory reading as full. It’s the same problem that bugged the Nokia 5800 SIM and fortunately has the same easy fix. Find out how to stop your Nokia 5530 XpressMusic SIM card from flashing as full after the jump…

The recent Nokia 5530 XpressMusic firmware v 11.0.054 update fixed many of the known bugs with the stability of the device but there is a problem with new devices that first appeared on the Nokia 5800. The problem with the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic consists of a small flashing envelope in the top right-hand corner. This problem has been brought to our attention by a number of users but there is a very simple workaround.

This flaw shows up as a small flashing envelope in the corner of the screen on the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic. Typically, this should mean the SIM memory is full but in some cases, empty slots are not being recognised.

It’s a very simple process to free this up. First go to into Messaging on your Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, select Options and then SIM Messages. At this stage you need to delete all the SIM messages. This will stop the envelope from flashing and will also correct the error.

“At this stage you need to delete all the SIM messages”

For the starters try deleting just one, maybe your sim is really full

Thank you so much – this information was invaluable!!! Having only purchased my 5530 yesterday and then finding a flashing envelope on the screen shortly after charging the battery; and I couldn’t find a way to sort the problem out. It would be really helpful if the Instruction book had some of the usual problems shown. But at least I’ve found the answer on the internet!!
