Ovi Store: Best New Nokia N86 8MP Apps
The Nokia N86 8MP may be Nokia’s first 8-Megapixel camera-phone with full-on slider action, but it isn’t just for taking high-quality pictures and, er, sliding. The powerful Symbian S60 3rd Edition operating system can handle some great apps too. Here are the latest Nokia N86 8MP apps, as recommended by the Ovi Store…
The Nokia N86 8MP is one of our favourite smartphones as it packs in everything we like – great screen, solid build quality and that 8-Megapixel snapper makes it a must-have. What’s more, the S60 3rd Edition OS is solid-as-a-rock and you can add to it with the latest app release from Ovi Store.

uQuran: Micro Quran Reader
Type: Reference
Price: Free
Size: 0.764 MB
Download: uQuran: Micro Quran Reader
uQuran contains the full text of the Holy Quran in both Arabic and english (both can be displayed simultaneously for comparison). As well as verse by verse translation and bookmarks, the app will recite verses to you if you have a memory card to store the voice files.
SkyeCaller II: Caller Display
Type: Utilities
Price: £8.00
Size: 0.0266 MB
Download: SkyeCaller II: Caller Display
SkyeCaller II offers fullscreen image display as a form of caller ID. No longer are you restricted to just popping up a caller’s name or number – by associating pictures (from your phone’s gallery) with a contact the app will display them full-screen when you receive a call or text message from that person.
SBSH VoiceQ
Type: Utilitis
Price: £3.00
Size: 0.162 MB
Download: SBSH VoiceQ
With SBSH VoiceQ you can take audio notes – like with the inbuilt voice recorder app. Unlike with the Voice Recorder, VoiceQ will automatically package up each clip and send it to you as an email with just two key presses, making voice notes something you are more likely to use rather than just leave to languish, forgotten, on your mobile.
Advanced Blocker
Type: Business
Price: £26.99
Size: 0.24 MB
Download: Advanced Blocker
Advanced Blocker is a comprehensive call, text and other messaging blocker. If you like to live an interruption-free life but still want to be reachable by a select few then you can have Advanced Blocker watch for number patterns, keywords in text messages or calls within certain times of day. It will silently kill the incoming call and leave you untroubled. For £26.99 we would hope it could actually answer and do the talking for you too, but hey-ho.
Before you can download any of these apps you’ll need to register your device with Ovi Store, which also entitles you to updates and message alerts from Nokia and is a great way of keeping abreast of what’s going on at the Ovi Store.

Jon, cheers for the feedback. We’d love it if Ovi Store just listed all the new apps, it just doesn’t work that way! We bring the latest apps for a set device as that’s the way Ovi Store tends to work, but there are signs that this is changing. Currently, you need to be loaded in to a set device to get those apps – else they don’t show up! We’re looking at ways to bring you the best of the new apps without having to check every dang handset!

No offense but these “Ovi Store: Best new apps for X model nokia” are a little overplayed now. I am trying to contemplate how the reading the Quran can be one of the best apps on the N86. Wouldn’t it be better read on something with a bigger screen or perhaps on paper? Certainly the app itself doesn’t offer any huge advancements in technology that take advantage of some specific feature of the N86.
I would think that a simple best new apps on the app store would make more sense. Just my two cents.
