Nokia 6303 Classic Camera Review
The Nokia 6303 Classic takes everything we knew about the super-success story that was the Nokia 6300 and updates it for a modern audience. We’ve been giving the phone a good going over and thought it time to check out the Nokia 6303 Classic camera to see if it handles as well as the rest of this budget Series 40 phone. Check out how we got on with our Nokia 6303 Classic camera review …
The Nokia 6303 Classic is priced at less than £100 (inc. VAT) on most PAYG contracts, so it’s safe to say that this mass market phone isn’t about to rock the world in terms of cutting-edge specs. That said, it’s been built to have a great battery life and easy-to-use interface and we think on this level it succeeds.

When it comes to using the camera on the Nokia 6303 Classic, you’ll find that it’s a 3.2-Megapixel with a rather impressive 8x digital zoom function. Image are saved in JPEG format, which makes them quick to save but you will find some quality loss when it comes to editing them later on.
You won’t find a dedicated Capture button. Instead, you use the D-pad button under the screen. This can be a little awkward to get to grips, largely as it means you end up moving the camera forward when you press to take pictures.

The phones itself has a rather small 2.2-inch screen with a 320 x 240-pixel resolution. It’s not the ideal size for a viewfinder but in its favour it is bright and clear. There is an auto-focus function, which helps you frame images before you shoot, which is something we weren’t expecting at this price point.
There may be no dedicated Capture button but you can use the volume buttons to zoom in and out, as you would with most other phones. This works well and allows you to get the most from the camera. The software allows you to switch between Still and Video capture, as well as choose which settings you want to record under. Flash comes with three options, and there is even a Night Mode, for working in partnership with the dual-LED.
One neat little feature of the software is the Landscape mode. Due to the small screen you’re more likely to take images in Landscape mode and Nokia has added a specific landscape mode to shoot in. As with standard mode, images taken can be used a wallpaper, part of your screen saver or even dropped into Contacts as a visual identifier.
The camera on the Nokia 6303 Classic isn’t the most advanced out there. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that the camera on the Nokia 6303 Classic is very much an added bonus rather than a major feature. After all, the Nokia 6303 Classic is a great phone that is primarily built for ease of use and great battery life.
Once you get to grips with how to take pictures on the Nokia 6303 Classic you’ll find that image quality is rather impressive. The use of dual-LED Flash is a real bonus, so you’ll even be able to take good shots in dim light conditions.
The Nokia 6303 Classic camera may not be truly breaking boundaries but when you consider what it delivers in this price bracket – of dual-Flash, 3.2-Megapixels and easy sharing – it’s certainly an impressive little phone.

@Abid. These aren’t images supplied by Nokia, these are shots I took with the Nokia 6303 on a day trip to the seaside last year! So rest assured, the images are as decent as they look!
