Nokia N97 Firmware Version 20.0.005 Adds Kinetic Scrolling
The Nokia N97 is about to get a fairly hefty firmware update, which will take the Nokia N97 to Firmware Version 20.0.005. It’s also being called the Nokia N97 2.0 Update due to the major overhaul it looks like the interface will be getting – including the addition of kinetic scrolling! Join us after the jump for the details on the Nokia N97 Firmware Version 20.0.005…
The Nokia N97 Firmware Version 20.0.005 will hit in October, so don’t go looking for it now, and will bring with it a whole host of updates. So many that people have already started thinking of it as the Nokia N97 2.0 Update.
It seems usability is the keyword for this update, as many of the base functions have been updated and we’ll also see a host of new widgets, an updated Facebook app that will take full advantage of Lifecasting with Ovi.

What’s more it seems that kinetic scrolling will finally make its appearance on the Nokia N97. So, anywhere you have a list, such as your image, video or music folders you’ll be able to move around a whole lot easier. We’re also reliably informed that the update will free up some of the internal memory, so allowing you to store even more Nokia goodness on your Nokia N97!
The Nokia N97 Firmware Version 20.0.005 will be available via the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) during October. We’re really looking forward to getting our hands on it and seeing if it really helps us get the most of the Nokia N97. In the meantime, check out what’s in store in the video the good guys at The Nokia Blog managed to blag while at Nokia World 2009.

Any news on a similar update for the 5800?
These small devices will be more and more like your desktop pc, moving your folders around by the tip of your finger. These are the kinds of software updates we love to see as the really add something valuable to your phone instead of just solving some kind of software bug.

excited for this. i think alot people who whinge about the n97 saying it lacks all this from the start need to get a grip. nothing more exciting than waiting for a firmware update especially when you know changelog beforehand. and if that vid is 100% accurate are we getting album art as a chioce of browsing thru music? canny wait……
Its going to be a long wait until October…
Ugh, I hate it when I get too excited for someting and then I have to wait for a while..
I want the update NOW! lol

it’s very good. hope this update include the “mark/unmark” option and an update for the log same as 6233 and other Nokia devices
Any ideas if a internet radio app will be included,
I cant get realplayer to open links, most free apps wont stream… the original nokia internet radio needs to be ported across to this supposed FLAGSHIP Device!
