Nokia World 2009 has been the rollout of an updated Ovi Maps Beta, which the location-based tool getting a new interface and a host of new features. The new Ovi Maps Beta is available now from Beta Labs but join us after the jump for the full details of the update…

Nokia Ovi Maps has a fresh new beta version that is compliant with a host of Nokia smartphones. The latest version of Ovi Maps comes with a great new interface that is easier and faster to get to grips with and the whole engine seems to have been overhauled and tweaked.

This new version has a host of new features including:

My Position, which allows you to find your current location easier and faster than previously.

Find Places offers a new one box solution for addresses and places.

Favourites is still there but you can now add favourite routes and places and even synchronise them with your Ovi Account over the air (OTA).

Weather adds up to 5-day forecasting for your location, as well as allowing you to check in other places – great for when you’re travelling and want to check up on the destination.

However, the big changes have come to the Drive and Walk modes of Ovi Maps, which now come with voice guidance, helping you get to your destination a whole lot easier. So, in-car you’ll now get voice as well as visual instructions, such as lane assistance and speed limit warners. Walk mode offers walkway navigation as well as highlighting pedestrian zones and even shortcuts.

The latest version of Ovi Maps Beta is available from Nokia Beta Labs.Currently, this version is only compatible with the Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini and Nokia 5800 touchscreen handsets.
