Lifecasting with Ovi: Interface Revealed!
Announced earlier this morning, Nokia has teamed up with social networking giant Facebook to introduce Lifecasting with Ovi, an innovative new app that lets people publish their location and status updates directly to their Facebook account from the homescreen of their Nokia smartphone. We’ve managed to get our hands on screengrabs of Lifecasting with Ovi in action, check them out after the jump…
One of the big announcements this morning at Nokia World 2009 was the launch of Lifecasting with Ovi, which is a partnership between Nokia and Facebook that allows users to update their location and status while on the move directly into the Facebook page on their Nokia device.
One of the reasons this new interface is so important is that it gives Nokia an amazing advantage over other devices to lead the next wave of social media tools. Not only will you be able to keep in touch with friends but you’ll also be able to send them details of where you are and vice-versa. It’s got some pretty interesting uses behind it that should make social media even more social!
Lifecasting with Ovi will make its appearance on the Nokia N97 Mini and will also be on the next major interface update for the Nokia N97, which is due next month. As you can imagine, we’re really excited about this development as it means we can make even more use of our Nokia devices.
Lifecasting with Ovi will available from Nokia Beta Labs.

How to use Lifecasting with Ovi:
1. Add the Homescreen widget: You can start Lifecasting directly from the homescreen of your Nokia N97 Mini. Simply download the widget and then add it to your home screen.
2. Select where you are: Your Nokia N97 mini detects your real life location via GPS/A-GPS or network positioning. You may share the street address you are at or a meaningful place from the nearby points of interest (POIs) or a favourite place saved on your OviMapsBeta.
3. Enter your status: With Lifecasting you can also let others know what you are up to.
4. Attach a photo: To capture the moment and make it more memorable, you can also take a photo and share it with your friends.
5. Go to Facebook: Open your Facebookprofile and see what you are lifecasting. Check out if your friends have left any comments and keep the conversation going.
