Nokia X Series to replace XpressMusic
It looks like Nokia is about to re-brand XpressMusic as the X Series with the launch of a new class of device. At least, this is the latest rumour doing the rounds ahead of Nokia World 2009. Are we about to see the launch of the Nokia X Series with a new 3G handset? Join us after the jump for the full details…
The X Series and C Series rumour has been doing the rounds of late and with Nokia World looming it seems time to dust it down again.
The Nokia X Series looks like it could well be making its first appearance at Nokia World 2009 next week. That is if the rumour that has popped up on German site, NokiaPort is correct. The site is claiming that Nokia sources have already announced that the X Series will make an appearance next week with a 3G device similar to the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic.
The first X Series smartphone hasn’t been named but it will look like the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic but sport a bigger screen – making it more like the Nokia 5800 then? What’s more, it’ll come with 3G built-in – lacking in the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic – as well as GPS. As would be expected with such a higher-end device, the price will also rise, with a claimed 50 Euro price premium being quoted.
News of the X Series and C Series was leaked earlier this year, along with the Booklet and as we’ve already seen the Nokia Booklet 3G announced ahead of Nokia World, it’s likely that see the X Series launched at Nokia World 2009 too. Whether the handset will be a beefed up Nokia 5530 XpressMusic we’ll have to wait and see.
What do you think, is Nokia about the re-brand XpressMusic? One thing is for sure, Nokia World looks like it’s going to an amazing experience this year with more devices and news than ever before! Let us know what you think in the Comments below.
