Facebook goes free on Vodafone

Facebook goes free on VodafoneFrom this Friday, Vodafone users can get a week of free access to social network phenom Facebook on their Nokia phone. That means they can update their status, read and write messages and deliver as many pokes as they like – without having to worry about building up any web browser use at all. Read on for all the details.

The promotion runs from 24th to 31st July, and is only free if you go directly to the site – visit anywhere else on the web and you’ll be charged the standard web browsing rate. Vodafone users can text “FRIENDS” to 97886 to get Facebook on their phone, or head over to the promotion page to set it up online.

From 24th July Vodafone customers will also be able to get free Facebook alerts, which keep you in the loop when somebody adds you as a friend, writes on your wall or sends a message. You can reply to alerts too, updating your status, poking pals and sending pictures and videos – but that will cost the standard message rate.
