Ovi Store: Best for.. Twitter
In just a few months Twitter has gone from interesting-yet-seemingly-pointless alternative to the Facebook status line to the hottest social networking tool around. But which Twitter app is best for you Nokia smartphone? we check out the best Twitter apps for S60 devices…
Whether you use it to chat to friends, stalk celebrities or just keep the world at large informed of what you had for breakfast, Twitter can be fiercely addictive and you may wish you had a way of tweeting when away from your PC. Thankfully there are now a number of decent Twitter clients available for Nokia phones. Read on to check out our pick of the best.
Gravity
Price £8.00
Size: 325KB
Available: Ovi Store
Probably the best all-round Twitter app on a Nokia phone, Gravity has it all. Multiple accounts, support for third-party services like TwitPic and Posterous, great search features that let you store search terms (handy for following long-running threads and #hashtags) and a lovely interface that just begs for a full S60 Series 5 version to take advantage of the newer Nokia’s touch screens.
TweetS60
Price: Free
Size: 106.8KB
Available: Ovi Store
For the more budget-conscious tweeter, TweetS60 is available for the low, low price of £free. Only one Twitter account is supported, and the app will only let you scroll down through the first few tweets in your timeline. No frills, but still usable.
Twittix
Price: £4.00
Size: 325KB
Available: Ovi Store
Sitting at an odd mid-point between Gravity and TweetS60, Twittix lacks multiple account support and the ability to save searches, but does let you wallow in the raw Twitter timeline – a snapshot of what every other Twitter user is tweeting about at any one time – which is entertainingly random.
CellSpin Multimedia Blogging
Price: Free
Size: 414 KB
Available: Ovi Store
If you don’t need to follow other people’s tweets but just want a quick, free way to post text and multimedia to Twitter (and several other social networks like Facebook, Bebo, etc.) CellSpin is for you. Could make an ideal companion to one of the above apps.
