Seems I had once set the Realplayer connection options (In Tools->Settings->Applications->RealPlayer) to use 3G connection. My Nokia E71 works with the iplayer over 3G but always time's out when over WiFi. Same error message as you. I cant see why this should be happenning. Did you have any luck with it?
