Nokia Ovi Store goes live!

The Nokia Ovi Store has officially gone live! We’ve just had word that Nokia has kept to its promise of opening the Ovi Store doors before the end of May and brought its full range of apps and tools into one central store.

Over night we saw a soft launch on Australia, Ireland and Singapore with the Ovi Store icon becoming available on most devices in the Download! section of their Nokia phone. Here in the UK we’re still waiting for something to happen – even Ovi Store has lost its intro page and moved to a white screen.

“Ovi Store is open for business and we’ve stocked the shelves with both local and global content for a broad range of Nokia devices,” said Tero Ojanperä, Executive Vice President, Nokia Services. “Ovi Store makes shopping for content and applications easy and fun for feature phone and smartphone owners alike.”

The apparent reason for this, according to Nokia Conversations, is that Ovi Store has being moved to fresh servers getting ready for the live launch globally, so the store will come on line around the world at different times. As soon as we get an update here in the UK you can be sure we’ll be checking out what’s on offer – we’ll keep you posted!
