Speculation about an official launch date for the Nokia N97 has become something of a new pastime of late. However, one thing is certain – we’re not going to see it any time soon. After all, Nokia is still putting the final touches to both the device and the software in place.

The Nokia N97 is going to be the flagship Nokia for the next couple of years so waiting a little longer for the touchscreen powerhouse won’t harm anyone.

Not only does it the site proclaim 23rd June 09 as the date of availability, it’ll also let you pre-order one for the princely sum of £689.99 (inc. VAT).

So, is June 23rd the day we’re waiting for? We’ll just have to wait and see. However, from past experience, this could simply be a ploy to get headline news coverage – it worked with us after all!
