Nokia Home Music – doesn’t Come with Music

Nokia’s first music streaming device has just landed and boy, it’s a beauty. Capable of streaming Internet radio, playing music off a USB stick, streaming music from your phone and your PC, it doesn’t come with music, but is happy to play tunes from your Comes with Music account. See, it packs a Windows DRM decoder so you can stream tracks from your PC, direct to the device. Opening up a world of possibility for your Comes with Music account.

The version we saw was just a proto, but it worked well and looks rather fetching. Control is done via remote, or on the device itself and the large LCD display. You can also use it as a source to output to your HiFi or even TV.

It also packs an FM radio so you can tune into your local station, if the foreign Internet stuff isn’t to your liking. Streaming is done over WiFi though you also get an Ethernet cable thrown in, for some reason. There’s no storage on board though, so this is very much a streaming device. Ideal for the kitchen or bedroom. We reckon it’s only the first of many too.
