Nokia Maps 3.0 now with added 3D!

It’s not just hardware treats that Nokia has in store today – Maps has also been updated to version 3.0 and is now part of Ovi too.

In addition to performance improvements when it comes to things like zooming and panning, the big news is that popular landmarks are now show in 3D when you zoom in.

Walking directions have been updated so it will work in areas where smart routing isn’t available. It’ll now draw a line between where you are and your destination and update the direction you need to be travelling as you move.

Driving instructions now includes an overview mode, so you can see the entire route at a glance and there’s also a handy speed check feature to keep you below the limit and penalty ticket free. Lane assistance has also been added, which should make navigating complicated junctions a lot easier.

The new release is available to try now from Beta Labs and the good news is any licences you have will be carried over. If you don’t currently have a Drive and Walk licence, then you can get a seven day trial here: www.nokia.com/maps/trial.
