N96 firmware update doesn’t wipe out installed apps

Tags: N96, Nokia, Nseries

Nokia N96 firmware updateIf you’re the sort of person that puts off updating your Nok to the latest, greatest firmware because of the time it takes to reinstall all your apps then there’s some very good news if you’re an N96 owner.

Installing the latest firmware will apparently leave all your apps, contants, calendar settings and the like intact – just update and go.

Nokia Addict had set aside a four hour window the other night to install the latest N96 v11 update, but was surprised to see that everything was still as expected post update.

When you combine this news with the OTA update ability of the N96 to pull down firmware releases directly to the handset, you’ve got a much simpler and more consumer friendly update procedure than before.

v11 has been about for ages now so this is kind of old news… Unofficial v12.035 is available but not yet via NSU. It will be soon, hopefuly!
