Nokia is going big on hassle free updates in the future, which will mean making sure your phone is running the latest firmware will be a one-click process.

This is, of course, much more consumer (and indeed Mac) friendly than the current system which involves installing the Nokia Software Updater client and hooking your phone up to your PC to apply the new firmware.

The good news is that Nokia has put a significant amount of time and resources – over two and a half years work and people across all departments – into creating a stable update system that works wirelessly. And the good news is that users of the N96, N79 and 5800 will be the first to take advantage.

Nokia is also working on allowing the phone to check automatically for new software, which will first demo on the N79. You only need to set the frequency for checks and then it will let you know when there’s a new firmware available.
