Nokia N95 8GB firmware update now generally available

If you fancy grabbing the latest firmware for your trusty N95 8GB and don’t really want to take a trip to your local Nokia Service Center, the good news is that it’s now available through the Software Updater.

In just a few clicks time, you could be running the newest version with a host of gloriously tasty new features ready to tickle your fancy. There’s a whole bunch of new apps built in, and the latest versions of those to roll out of Beta Labs too. Grab the full list after the jump.

Once you’ve backed up, downloaded and waited for it to install, you can expect to find the following improvements awaiting you:

* Nokia Maps 2.0 now built-in
* Full N-Gage client now built-in
* Nokia Search 4.0 now with Google plug-in
* Share online 3.0
* Enablers for Comes With Music (watch this space)
* Download! application updated (v 3.1.50)
* Upgrade to Music Player, with new visualisations
* Update for Flash Lite 3 (improved viewing of sites like YouTube)
* Current consumption improvements (for e.g. WLAN scanning)
* New baseline for VoIP (with significant error corrections)
* Incoming call number is displayed in additon to name of the contact
* Realplayer supports FLV format (i.e FLV files can be played directly like MP4)

    I have two Nokia N95 8GB (RM-320) phones and using the Nokia Software Updater one would update and the other one didnt have the update shown ! strange
    Recommend the update if you can get it
    Have seen no problem with the Video / Camera functions unlike one other I read about

    That’s probably to do with the phone’s origination. I.E. if one is from a network and one is sim-free. Often the networks won’t allow the update to roll out on their devices in case it interferes with their services. Which is a shame. T-Mobile had my N95 totally locked down (until I found a way around it)

    This update is great, the maps are much much better
    top phone, may even look at the N96 now
