Vodafone launches mobile music store

Not got enough ways of getting music on your mobile? Well, as luck would have it, you can now buy tracks from Vodafone directly on your handset – previews are free and when you spot something you like, you can pull it straight down and listen to it within minutes. Perfect for those with short attention spans.

In order to try and set itself apart from the many, many musical rivals out there, Vodafone is touting its smart search function – which will try and fill in the blanks if you just enter a partial song or artist name – and its visual library to make it easier to track down what you’re hunting for.

Thirty second previews are free and if you find something you want to keep it’ll set you back 99p per track or £7.99 per album. The service is supported by 11 handsets at launch – although ten are Sony Ericsson models and the only Nok you can use is the N73. Hopefully that’ll change pretty soon.
