New N78 over-the-air update out

A new hassle free firmware update for the N78 is available – and there’s no need to mess around with a PC to get it. You can simply pull the over-the-air update down on the handset itself which is much easier than using the Nokia Updater software.

A new hassle free firmware update for the N78 is available – and there’s no need to mess around with a PC to get it. You can simply pull the over-the-air update down on the handset itself which is much easier than using the Nokia Updater software.

In fact, the only way to get the new 12.046 firmware is on the phone itself – it won’t even be hitting the PC update app. Fixes include bass distortion, a more flexible navi wheel, improved GPS performance and an overall faster UI. Nokia has tried this approach with the last N78 update, so it’s clearly working well.

To grab the latest update hop on over to Menu > Tools > Utilities > Device Manager and then select “Check for updates” from the options menu. It only weighs in a 1MB so it shouldn’t take that long to download even if you’re not on Wi-Fi. Follow the onscreen instructions and before you know it, your N78 will be bang up to date.
