N95 next on the list for BBC iPlayer?

After developing a dedicated version of its catch up service for the iPhone and Nintendo Wii, the N95 could be the next device to get the special iPlayer treatment. The BBC is looking to expand the service to a wider audience and apparently Nokia owners are top of the list.

The BBC’s head of digital media Anthony Rose told Brand Republic that a mobile version of the service could soon be available for the N95 – and presumably other S60 devices – as part of its strategy to make iPlayer available to more people.

Rose didn’t expand upon how the service might work, but if it’s similar to the iPhone version then you’d need to be using a Wi-Fi connection to watch streaming video. The small screen size obviously wouldn’t be ideal, but it could be a good way to catch up on last night’s telly if you’ve got a few hours to kill and you’re sat within reach of a friendly hotspot.
