Nokia launches Files on Ovi sharing service

Desperately need to get hold of a file you’ve left sitting on your desktop at home? With Nok’s new Files on Ovi service you could just hoover it up and pull it straight down to your mobile so you’re never more than a couple of clicks from your documents.

Of course, that’s all very well if your machine is switched on – but what if it’s sat there having a nap? That’s where Anytime Files comes in – an online storage locker that keeps an automatic up to date copy of any files or folders you specify on your PC, so you can access them even when you’ve powered down your PC.

File access is via a secure connection, so no one can snoop on your transfers but you’re probably best signing up for an unlimited data plan just to make sure you don’t get hit by any hidden costs. Speaking of which, to make full use of the service you’ll need to pay a subscription fee – prices haven’t been announced yet, but you will get a 60 day trial so you can kick the tyres a bit before handing over your hard earned.

Sound like your kind of thing? Point your Windows PC (no Mac support at the moment) in the direction of Files on Ovi, and never be stuck for a file again.
