Nokia’s new fashion phones go Supernova
Nokia has never been one to hold back with its fashion phones designs – the outrageously ornate L’Amour range is all the proof you need – and it new Supernova fash blower quartet rocks up in another riot of funky finishes and tasty designs.
First up from the fab foursome is the entry level tri-band 7210 candybar, flaunting a rather slim 10.6mm profile and a choice of Bubble Gum Pink or Vivid Blue colour schemes. Its stand out features include a two-megapixel snapper, FM radio and microSD card slot for storing your multimedia loot.
Next to turn heads is the 7310 candybar which is similar in spec to its younger sibling but sports a superior 16-million colour display, better video capturing capabilities and a 2.5MM TV –out connector. Fickle fashionistas will also dig it ability to change appearance using exchangeable Xpress-On cover.
The third member to go Supernova is the Xpress-On toting 7510 clamshell, beguiling you with ‘magic light effects’ and a nifty push-to-open mechanism, reminiscent of the recently announced 6600 Fold. Surprisingly, it also supports A-GPS and Nokia 1.2 maps, although the camera only hits the two-megapixel mark.
But heading up this all star cast is the 7610 slider, habouring a neat autofocus-spiked 3.2-megapixel camera and VGA-quality at 15fps video capture skills. More curiously, this quad-band skater practices colour detection witchcraft that lets you capture a certain colour (presumably with the camera) so you can have a matching wallpaper and illuminating button colour scheme.
These jazzy new EDGE-enabled Symbian S40 fashion blowers definitely catch the eye but we’re disappointed Nokia hasn’t managed to at least fit the higher end models with a 3G engine. The 7210, 7310 and 7610 are expected to be available in Q3 with the 7510 a little later in Q4.
