PC Phone retired from Beta Labs
Not every app gets to bask in the glory of graduation day. Some, sadly, get taken unceremoniously out the back to be shot.
And so it is that we say goodbye to PC Phone. Admittedly, it was a little gawky looking at first and slightly unkempt, but so is the way with many apps that take their first formative steps around Beta Labs.
Many go on to bigger and better things, but not for this computer based remote control. No longer can you to tap into your Nok with a proper keyboard or send SMS messages via your browser.
Despite looking like it might have a bright future in January, when it was the most downloaded application in the Labs, the tide had changed a month later when the kennel staff asked for feedback on its progress.
Although PC Phone won’t be getting to throw its mortar board in the air, it may still live on in other apps that turn up in the Labs, so there’s still hope yet.
We’ll be conducting a minute’s silence in honour of this plucky little fella, feel free to join in.
