Take the wrist strain out of watching films on the go with Nokia’s concept flip out stand design.

The R&D folks down in Nokia’s labs may be hard at work turning out a touchscreen S60 for us all to paw at, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been trying out some other designs too.

A quick flick through Nokia’s recent patent applications shows this nifty design that makes watching movies on your Nok a much more comfortable experience. There’s not much you can do about the screen size, but at least with this flip out stand design you don’t have to sit there holding the thing for the entire duration of the movie.

Short clips of kids falling off skateboards are fine, but if you want to settle down with the Lord of the Rings then you’re going to develop some serious wrist ache before Gollum’s even got going.

With this clever design, however, you can just flip it out and stand it up in front of you – leaving both hands free for popcorn.
