Nokia Maps 2.0 gets official

Break out the bubbly, because Nokia has just confirmed that Maps 2.0 is officially out of beta and fully polished.

The second edition of the Nok’s mapping software has been available for a couple of months in its unfinished beta form, and user feedback has been taken on board to add or improve a shedload of features.

Take network-based positioning, for instance: GPS playing up on your Nokia mobile? Never mind – Maps 2.0 can use the position of nearby phone masts to determine your approximate location, switching it to a more precise one when the GPS finally kicks in.

There are loads more reasons why you should replace Maps 1.0 with Maps 2.0 (take a gander at our review for more details), and you can do so by pointing your web browser at maps.nokia.com. It’s free, too!
