Nokia lets Step Counter out of the labs for a run around
Rating: 0

Want to know how far you’ve walked with your trusty Nok in tow? Download Step Counter and it will keep a tally for you.

Step Counter is the latest release from Nokia’s bulging Beta Labs project. As the name suggests, it will keep a count of the number of steps you take by monitoring the accelerometer in S60 phones.

Thankfully it can track your movement no matter where you keep your phone, so you don’t need to strap it to your belt like a normal step counter and end up looking like you’ve just fallen out of the 80s.

Once it’s totalled up your steps for the day, it can then give you a read out on how far you’ve travelled and you can even see your activity plotted by day.

It still needs a bit of fine tuning, so the folks in the lab are particularly interested if you can managed to fool it into counting false steps or if there’s a particular move that’s not being picked up. For a break down on your personal activity, head on over to Beta Labs now.
