Ovi: Squeeze the most out of Nokia’s swish sharing service
Nokia offers a fully featured sharing service, complete with unlimited storage for your files. Wanna know how to use it smartly? Step this way…
Is it free?
Yep.
Sold! How do I do it?
Step 1: Sign up!
Point your web browser to ovi.nokia.com and sign up for an account. It’s completely free, but you’ll need it to make the most of the service.
Step 2: Create a channel
Once you’re signed in, you can start creating channels. These are collections of content which you can maintain. You can upload to Ovi through a web browser, mobile, or even by e-mail. When you create a channel, Ovi will give you an e-mail address that’ll automatically add content when you send attachments to it.
Channels are more than personal collections though – you can allow others to contribute to it, so it’s perfect for groups who have a similar interest.
Step 3: Share your stuff!
Hit Ovi’s share buttons to send anything you see to friends. They don’t need to be members to download it – all they need is an e-mail address, it’s as simple as that!
Step 4: Just browsing…
You don’t have to add files to Ovi if you don’t want to. Check out the homepage for links to the most recent or most popular content, listed by type, location or the member who uploaded it. There’s loads on offer, from photos to videos and music. Get browsing!
Step 5: Ovi on your mobile
Ovi is easiest to use on a desktop computer, but you can also nab shared files through your phone. Download Ovi Share here and you’ll be able to use all the same features on your mobile.
