How to use your Nok to teach you to play guitar

What’s the point?

Download one simple app and be strumming away in minutes. We can’t promise you won’t need to practice though.

Is it free?

The full version of Guitar Trainer costs £2.50.

Sold! How do I do it?

Step 1:

Point your PC’s browser here and download Guitar Trainer. You’ll need to register for Vodafone’s Beta Vine service, but it’s free, and there are loads of apps to mooch through later.

Step 2:

Once you’ve downloaded Guitar Trainer, transfer it to your phone using Bluetooth or USB cable, and install it. Fire it up from the ‘Applications’ menu, then choose the ‘Trainer’ mode.

Step 3:

The screen will show you the neck of a guitar, and nine options for the note that’s marked out. Try strumming along, then hit the choice you think is correct. If you’re right, you’ll progress to the next note. If you get it wrong, the right one will turn green, while your choice glows red.

Step 4:

Fancy a challenge? Tap into Game Mode and you’ll be challenged to name the notes in ever shorter time periods.
