Step by step: How to get the best out of Nokia MOSH
Nokia’s file-sharing service is great, but like any public repository it’s cluttered and a tad chaotic. Follow these simple steps to nab the best add-ons for your phone, without getting side-tracked by the dross.
Is it free?
Absolutely.
Sold! How do I do it?
Step 1. Search by device
Lots of content on Mosh is useless to you, simply because it’s made for a different device. Things like themes and applications are designed specifically for your one type of handset, and won’t work on any other. Run a quick search for your phone’s exact model and you’ll be rewarded with a crop of content ready-made for your mobile and guaranteed to work. It’s much quicker than downloading by trial and error.
Step 2: Registration optional
There are lots of benefits to registering for Mosh, but remember that you don’t have to register to grab all the goodies on offer. You’ll be able to search, download items to your PC and even grab a direct download link for your mobile without even thinking about usernames and passwords.
Step 3: Subscribe to collections
Sure, you can grab a file or two without registering, but you’ll be missing some of the great advantages of signing up to Mosh. Get yourself a username, then go and make some friends. Look at what other users are posting to the site, but more importantly, check out their collections. Find someone with good taste and keep an eye on them, they’ll help keep you informed about new software or add-ons you just have to download.
Step 4: Seek and you shall find
Can’t find what you need? You can ‘Seek it’ and Mosh will ask other users to offer it up if they have it. It’s a great feature, and the Mosh homepage shows the latest requests from users, and the latest fulfilments of existing ‘seeks’.
