Nokia iPhone killer: the aftershock!

Since we posted the World’s first pics of Nokia’s iPhone-a-like on Wednesday, a monumental buzz has erupted within the global online gadget community. So as you’d expect, it’s been a manic few days, and we’re just coming to our senses!

So, Nokia’s iPhone killer has already attained the status of the most-wanted gadget on the planet. Can I sense shivers slithering up the spines of Apple’s top brass? Maybe it’s just the static on Steve Jobs’ black roll-neck.

Sure, we’ve only caught a glimpse of Nokia’s superhero touchscreen smartphone, nonetheless unlike Apple, which has a frustrating tendency to focus stoically on simplicity, often sacrificing top end specs as a result (drip-feeding new tech additions water torture-style over a period of years), Nokia has a proven track record of shoving in cutting-edge tech into its phones to make them the most flexible, powerful and practical convergence gadgets out there. Point is, if Nokia is gearing up to take a serious pop at the iPhone, it’ll have to pull out all the stops features-wise. No half measures. It’ll have to be a balls-out blower of monumental proportions, toting everything found in the new black N95 and then some. Design wise, it already looks the bomb (well it is iPhone’s evil twin… with a Nokia badge), so no worries in the seduction stakes.

Now word is that iPhone 2.0, or whatever it’s going to be called, will launch by the time Nokia releases its arch rival. Yep, that’s likely, but it doesn’t change the fact that the next version of the iPhone most likely still won’t be able to do everything that the N95 sat on my desk can already do. Sure it hasn’t got the fancy Multi-touch screen or swivel-me-do accelerometer or 8GB of storage built-in (yet), but otherwise it gives iPhone a serious shoeing!

Whatever the outcome, we’re about to witness one of the greatest gadget battles of all time, and we can not wait! Stick with us here at NokNok as we’re going to be all over this, and loving every minute of it.
