Software: SoonR (tap into your PC or Mac from anywhere)
All your desktop’s files, accessible on your mobile! Ideal for grabbing forgotten documents from your home machine and flicking through photos without clogging up your memory card.
Judgement time!
Forgetfulness comes to everyone, but it’s rarely more annoying than when it necessitates a trip back home. SoonR does its best to save you that trip, making all your desktop computer’s files available on your mobile.
Essentially turning your home computer into a server, SoonR lets you tap in to files and folders using your handset’s built in browser. Everything’s password protected and encrypted, so there’s no chance of being snooped on, and as long as your computer’s switched on you can rest easy when it comes to remembering your files.
Of course, if your PC or Mac slips into sleep mode you’re in trouble. Equally, if you forget to leave it on there’s no way to get hold of your precious documents.
Still, assuming you play by SoonR’s rules everything works fine. Documents can be downloaded, photos previewed and then saved – it’s a real boon if you’ve got stacks of work saved at home.
There’s even an option to tap into your computer’s standard email app, as well as a tool to route Skype calls through SoonR so you don’t need any extra software on your phone. They’re both handy add-ons, even if there’s free software to do both direct from the phone.
SoonR’s completely free file access is what really sets it apart from the competition. If you’re in the habit of leaving a PC on all day anyway you can hardly go wrong. For the eco-conscious, it might be a bit of a stretch.
